Your delegates will be treated to a true once-in-a-lifetime experience where they will experiment with professional cameras and the ability to develop their own photographs in a genuine darkroom which will be set up at the venue exclusively for them. 

They'll be required to tap into their creative side and produce classic stills that ooze spirit and atmosphere. Our facilitators will provide simple step-by-step instructions to everything the delegates need to know to create their own photographic masterpieces.

What the team will experience?


The invention of photography has enabled man to capture a moment in time which lasts for eternity.

The elegance and drama of black and white photography has captivated us for centuries, and even with the relentless pace of technology, the attraction of this process has not been lost. Black and white photography is as timeless as the mountains, and is powerful and expressive, making it the perfect platform on which to build a dynamic, fulfilling team experience.

The black and white process is easy to follow and lends itself to experimentation and story-telling. The end result is a powerful visual communication and interpretation of how delegates have viewed the challenges put before them.

In the words of a famous photographer "to tell it like it is, is to lay it bare for the whole world to see" - a provocative medium that is guaranteed to excite and intrigue all who take part.

Brief

Facilitators brief the delegates.

Purpose

To unleash the creativity in all your team members and get them to conceive and produce a wonderful portfolio of shots which fully express the purpose and theme of the shoot. 

The Task

Conceive, plan, shoot and develop a series of black-and-white photographs which stunningly portray the theme you have been given.

Policy

The team will choose a leader who will assign the following hats necessary for the project. In this team build one will be allocated two hats.

  • Art Director
    The 'Art Director' is similar to the Managing Director or CEO. He or she liaises with the facilitators and runs the 'business' aspects of the shoot - organisation, time-keeping, budgets, personnel, making sure that the objective is achieved within the time allotted. The AD is also responsible for ensuring that the team comes up with a 'concept', which is the subject/message of the shoot in broad terms, and how it is going to be portrayed.
     
  • Creative Director
    The principal creative artist on the shoot. The Director is the driving artistic source behind the shoot, and communicates to photographer, graffiti artist, developer etc., how he or she would like the shots produced.
     
  • Photographer
    The Photographer is responsible for the process of recording a scene in the manner desired by the director. He or she has a number of duties: shot composition (in consultation with the directors), selecting lighting, etc.
     
  • Dark Room Manager
    Is in charge of the Dark Room, especially all the vital light control aspects. Also responsible for the process and procedures in the Dark Room.
     
  • The Developer
    The Developer is responsible for the actual production of the prints, under the guidance of the director, photographer and Dark Room manager.
     
  • Runner 
    This is the person responsible for ensuring that finished rolls of film get dropped at the specified location.
     
  • Location Scout
    The Location Scout looks for suitable locations for photographing and manages various aspects of photographing on location, such as arranging with authorities for permission to shoot in specific places.
     
  • Graffiti Artist
    The Graffiti Artist is the stylist of the shoot, is responsible for setting up the shots for the photographer, and obtaining the necessary props.

Purpose:

  1. To open up communication lines and get to know each other.
     
  2. To overcome fixed ideas and silo mentality.
     
  3. To provide a powerful, challenging and quality teambuilding platform which has not only fun elements but also meaning in terms of the workplace.
     
  4. Produce a product that meets not only objectives of the exercise, but can be taken back into the workplace.
The teams will be challenged to plan, stage, shoot, develop and print a series of photographs which show "how we can improve the levels of communication"....

  • Technical equipment required - data projector, sound equipment etc.
  • "Behind the Scenes" movie where we film the teams in action (filming, editing and screening)
  • Additional DVD copies of the movies @ R100.00 each excl. VAT.  (To be delivered 14 days after the intervention)
  • All venue hire and venue-related costs such as meals and refreshments
  • Refreshments and meals for our facilitators
  • Accommodation for our facilitators if required
  • Flights and car rental if required
